PORTER FLEA AIRCRAFT 2013

This past Friday and Saturday, I was a vendor at Nashville's Porter Flea for the first time. It was so much fun and I met so many great people!

PORTER FLEA, HERE WE COME!

I was so excited to get the news yesterday that I was accepted to be a vendor at this summer's Porter Flea here in Nashville. The Porter Flea is a big craft show of carefully curated modern, handmade vendors. I have been anxious to be a part of it for a couple of years now. It seems like such a great opportunity to get my business' name out there and to meet tons of other small business owners in Nashville. This weekend, I'll be planning some ideas for my set up and deciding on quantities to produce for the show with Wes, who has already agreed to help work my booth. :) If you live in Nashville, I'd love to see you there!

This weekend we are also going to (finally) finish up our Spring Cleaning Project and take photos, so I'll have that to show you next week.

Happy Friday, and have a great weekend! xo

HOSTESS GIFT IDEA

With all of the holiday parties coming up, sometimes it's hard to figure out what to bring for the hostess. How about one of these adorable wine stoppers from BHLDN? I'm in love with the little bow!

UNIQUE FALL EVENT COLOR PALETTES

It seems like most fall weddings and parties are always the same old colors: orange, red, brown, etc. So I decided to come up with a few fall color palettes that are still in season but a little more unique. I hope those of you who are planning a fall event will find this helpful!

DIY EVENT DECOR: TWINED WRAPPED JARS

This weekend, I'm styling a country/barn wedding, so I've spent the last couple of weeks wrapping twine around mason jars to make them a little more rustic looking. It's a small change but it makes a big impact. Twine wrapped jars are great for a picnic style wedding or party, and are really affordable and easy to make.

All you need is some tacky glue, twine and jars.

When you start, leave about an inch of twine before you start glueing it to the jar. Then as you wrap the twine around the jar, cover up that excess piece. At the end, just cut the twine and glue the entire bottom row of twine to the jar. I also put a drop of glue on top of the very end of the glue to make sure it didn't fray at the end. The glue dries clear so it isn't noticeable.

Happy decorating!

FREEZER PAPER "SCREENPRINTING"

Yesterday, I shared pictures from the Etsy Craft Party we threw on Friday. Today, I wanted to share a tutorial for one of the crafts we did at the party: Freezer Paper Screenprinting! This is a really easy craft that I think would be great to do with kids too! Here's what you do:

1. Print out a design on regular printer paper.
We chose the Nashville skyline to go with our theme

2. Trace the design onto the smooth paper side of a piece of freezer paper.

3. Cut out the inside of the design.
I would recommend doing a simpler design if you're doing this with kids - this part was kinda tricky, especially since we were using scissors rather than an x-acto knife.

4. Carefully iron the freezer paper to the fabric.

5. Paint a thin layer of fabric paint inside the design.
*It also helps to place a piece of cardboard under the fabric or inside the tote so that the paint doesn't bleed through.

6. Slowly remove the freezer paper and you're left with a "screenprinted" design!

Here we are with all of our creations!

ETSY CRAFT PARTY 2012

Friday, my friend Lindsey and I threw a craft party as part of the worldwide Etsy Craft Party 2012.  The theme this year was "Wish You Were Here" so our party was a southern, Nashville theme!

(Lindsey and I accidentally wore almost identical dresses - ha! Apparently blue and white seersucker says "Nashville" to us)

Nashville is all about southern food and music, so we incorporated those details in our party. We also used the Nashville skyline for a lot of our decorations and for both crafts.

The crafts that we did were a postcard template that everyone could decorate and a homemade screenprinting craft using freezer paper (I'll be sharing a tutorial post tomorrow!).
