What's that, you say? You'd love to see a blog series on here every so often?

Well, say no more! Every month, I will be doing a style post featuring casual, effortless pieces that are comfy but cute for those of you who work from home like me.

It's hard to balance comfort (which is one of the main benefits of working from home) with style (just to keep you from not feeling like a slob, and in case you need to run to the store or something and, you know...see humans).

In the past, I wrote a ton of style posts but now that most of my readers are more interested in what I have to say about owning an online shop / working from home / chasing dreams and all that, I thought this would be a fun way to merge the two.

Here are my picks for this month:

FASHION FRIDAY: NAVY, BLUSH, AND A BRAID

Don't you guys just love my super-fancy, professional photographer style posts? haha I'm sorry! These outfit of the day posts typically have to just be taken by me on my iPhone. But I'm hoping that you like them anyway!

This outfit is so me: simple, solid color top in a silky fabric with skinny jeans (these jeans are from Gap but these ones are really similar) and a statement necklace (from J.Crew, no longer available - similar). As you guys probably already know, I'm all about simple and classic with a little pop of somethin'-somethin' - in this case the necklace and red lipstick.

My favorite thing about this top is the high-low length. I looovve tops that fall a little lower in the back because, I don't know about you guys, but I'm always tugging at the bottom of my shirts to try to make sure everything is covered.

Today's Fashion Friday outfit post is from last week actually when I was in Ohio visiting my family (check out my mom's pretty tulips in the background!). This outfit is definitely nothing fancy - just a simple, comfortable outfit for hanging out, walking around, grabbing lunch, etc. The mix of patterns adds a tiny bit of a fashionable feel to the very basic pieces.

Also, I've noticed that all of the shopping that I have done over the last season or two has been from J.Crew Factory! haha I'm a little obsessed. Do you guys ever order stuff from there? I feel like it has the great quality of J.Crew without the outrageous price tag.

FASHION FRIDAY: TUNIC, LEGGINGS, AND SPARKLE

I hope you guys had a great week! Today, Wes was off for Good Friday so I got my orders filled early and we spent the day relaxing, walking around town, and taking it easy. I wanted to be comfortable so I had a leggings day (I have those a lot haha). I wore my long sweater tunic so that it would be acceptable to wear "out" and I jazzed it up with a sparkly necklace. I love this sweater tunic because it keeps the rear area covered and it has these long slits in the side that makes the fit nice and comfy and long. Highly recommend. FASHION FRIDAY: SPRING FASHION HAUL!

Happy "Fashion Friday"! Since yesterday was the first day of spring, I thought I would share some of the items that I have purchased over the past couple of months in preparation for spring time. The weather right now is kinda funny: some days it's warm and very "springy" but then other days, it's freezing cold. So, some of these items are a little on the cold-weather side, but overall, these are some great layering / transition pieces as it starts to get warmer. Happppyyyy Friiidaaayyy! I'm so excited that today is Friday, I can't even tell you. I just...I CAN'T with this weather!!! I need some sunshine in my life, you know what I mean?? FASHION FRIDAY: STRIPES AND BRIGHTS

I hope you guys had a great week! Today it is sunny outside (for a change) and I was feeling bright and cheerful so I wore one of my (many) striped tops with a bright yellow statement necklace and hot pink lips! The top is from Loft last year (similar), the necklace is from J.Crew, and my lipstick is Fuchsia Shock by Revlon. I also got a new bag from Target today (couldn't find it online but this one is similar) that I love! I think it looks so much more expensive than it was, and it's neutral so it matches everything. I hope you had a happy day!

FASHION FRIDAY: C'EST LA VIE

Happy Fashion Friday! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

This week's outfit is perfect for this time of the year, with the crazy weather that we've been having, because...layers! I also love it because it's cozy and comfy and most importantly, it was inexpensive.

I'm wearing this super cute sweater over a Christmas-colored plaid shirt (both from Forever21!). I'm wearing Gap jeans (all my jeans are from there) and "Ruby" flats from Shoemint. I did my hair in a top knot, and I'm wearing Revlon red lipstick.

Sorry for the blurry picture I took in the car, but I also wore this cute scalloped bag from Asos (no longer available but here are some similar styles), and my nails are painted with Shirelle by MAC which I've had for years now and is my favorite red nail polish (lasts several days!).

FASHION FRIDAY - HEART ON MY SLEEVE

Happy Friday! So I know this year isn't over yet, but one of my goals for the new year is to have more original posts (as in, posts with my own photos) so I thought I would see that you guys think about having "Fashion Fridays" where I show you what I wore that day. It's kind of like an outfit of the day post but it's an outfit of the week because I tend to dress nicely on Fridays. You wouldn't want to see my outfits of the day (unless you are inspired by messy hair / no makeup / yoga pants / tank tops posts - ha!). I'm not a "fashion blogger" by any means, but I thought this would be something fun for you guys and for me! Let me know what you think.

Today, I'm wearing this cute sweater from Asos with a heart elbow patch (this is now my like millionth navy and white striped shirt...I have a problem) with GAP jeans (similar) and riding boots from Shoemint last year. I'm really excited because the weather here is amazing and I probably won't even need a coat! I could get used to this.

I'm also wearing a coral necklace from a boutique in Franklin, TN (similar) and matching coral lipstick ("Lover's Coral" by Revlon) which I've been wearing almost every day.

SLOUCHY FALL SWEATERS

My favorite outfit to wear this time of the year is an oversized sweater with skinny jeans or leggings and boots. So stylish, so effortless, so comfy! Here are my favorite sweaters so far this season:

BEACHY, WAVY HAIR

My hair is naturally wavy, but like most girls with this type of hair, I usually straighten it or curl it because I feel like it is not enough of either to look polished. Some days though, I just own it. Beachy, textured hair can be really pretty and definitely creates a cool, laid back vibe.

I thought I would share some ways to create beachy waves. This picture is of me today with nothing done to my hair whatsoever. I just washed it last night and woke up like this so as you can see, I don't really use any product because this is my natural texture. But, if you want to create waves or amp up your natural waves, here are some ways to do it:

1. Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray - This stuff is pretty legendary, and is known for creating the perfect beachy waves. It mimics the effect of salt water, creating body with a light hold, but is better for your hair. It's $24 but it lasts forever.

2. Hair dryer with a diffuser - Girls with curly hair use these a lot. A diffuser is an attachment for your hair dryer that blows air across a broader surface area, rather than a straight shot of air, which makes your hair less frizzy and keeps the curls from flattening out.

3. Sleep in braids - This is the good old fashioned way to get wavy hair. I used to do this all the time in high school. Just french braid your hair at night when it's wet (I would just do one braid down the middle to keep the waves loose) and in the morning take it out and dry your hair. This brings me to my next tip:

4. Dry your hair with a t-shirt. If your hair is damp and you just want to towel dry it, don't use a towel! I know that sounds weird, but use a t-shirt instead. The fabric is softer and makes your hair less frizzy.

I know there are lots of Youtube tutorials with different ideas too.

In my Monday morning web-browsing, I stumbled upon this cool thing from Asos called the hair donut, which goes around your ponytail to help you shape the perfect bun!

Perfect for anyone struggling to create a chic top knot.
